Each time something happens to the ones I love in Greece and I'm not there the wound gets bigger. When Melina Merkouri was allowed entry into Greece for her father's funeral she defiantly walked in the centre of Athens a message to the oppressors of the time. That is my sentiment to all that I dislike about Greece, Greece is mine, to hell with the politics and the social conditions. My great aunt died in Crete last night, I'm in Melbourne. My mother called me and told me minutes after it happened; I had lit a candle half an hour before the phone call. Anyone Greek can see some symbolism in that. My great aunts death means the last of my grandmother's generation died last night. I love my aunt, may God rest her soul. Xenitia wounds me. I have an open wound.
